UGC

Feed allows users to post to the Feed, and make 10% on any purchased items when another user shops from their post.

Problem Statement

Users were often requesting to be able to post photos in the feed. We initially only posted vendor content from the backend, but users would even reach out to us directly with their photos and ask to generate posts on their behalf.

Solution

We looked at social media and found design patterns for UGC, but modified our flows with our specific requirements:

  1. We don't require photos; we allow posts that are text first, similar to Facebook. Because of this, we did not require users to first enter an image in the flow, which Weee! does.
  2. We are running a promo where when somebody buys from their post, they get credits, so products are critical to the posting system. Although we have a popup when you first post explaining this, we also chose to explain this concept in the posting screen.
  3. At the time we were developing UGC, we did not have any hashtag system developed.

By adding the info about 10% royalties, we incentivized users to post.
We put recent orders first to make suggestions more relevant for users.
